Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team drew with the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose, 1-1, Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field Molloy moves to 1-2-1 on the campaign, while Saint Rose moves to 1-1-1.
How it Happened
- In the opening 2:30, Saint Rose forward Hilmar Halldorsson sent his shot wide.
- Following a cross into the box in the sixth minute, freshman Harvey Chahal put a header on net, but the opportunity was saved.
- The next 13 minutes of play went back and forth at a high pace as both teams were applying pressure, but both back lines stood strong.
- The pressure continued in the 25th minute, junior Connor Gervasi created space and blasted a shot on target that was saved, and junior Nick Leon buried the rebound into the back of the net to put Molloy in front, 1-0.
- The road team looked to tie the game in the 29th minute but freshman John Takach made his first save of the contest to keep the Lions ahead.
- Following a foul in the box by the Lions, Saint Rose converted a penalty kick to knot the contest at one heading into halftime.
- In the beginning minutes of the second half, Saint Rose looked to take the lead, but Takach denied the chance.
- Senior Ryan Dobson put his first opportunity on goal in the 58th minute, but his shot was saved by Saint Rose goalkeeper Leopold Dufaut.
- Over the next 13 minutes of game time both teams were able to generate chances, but neither defense allowed anything on goal.
- The road team had the final two chances of the contest in the 80th and 81st minute with a pair of headers on goal, but Takach made two saves to solidify the draw, 1-1.
