RINDGE, N.H. – The first road trip of the season came to a close for the Queens College women's soccer team on Sunday (Sept. 3) afternoon as they matched up against nationally ranked #12 Franklin Pierce University Ravens at Sodexo Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Ravens
(1-0-1 Overall) would score three times in the second half to defeat the Knights
(0-1-1 Overall) to the final score of 3-0.
Match Highlights
- In the 33rd minute freshman Cassidy Pong (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) registered the lone shot on goal in the first half.
- Graduate student goalie Erin Kelly (Massapequa, N.Y.) denied the Ravens for 48 minutes before the Ravens were able to get past the Knights defense.
- Junior Jacklyn Diel (Stony Brook, N.Y.) looked to get the Knights back in the back but Diel's shot would be blocked in the 58th minute.
- Ravens would put the game away in the 59th minute with their third goal of the second half.
- In the 60th minute, the Knights would threaten as junior Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) landed a shot headed to the bottom right of the net but the Ravens goalie would ensure the Centereach native would have to wait for her first goal of the season.
- After recording eight saves on Friday night against SCSU, Kelly would record a season-high nine saves in the net in 75 minutes of play.
