Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The volleyball team returned to the floor of Quealy Gymnasium after a seven-game road stretch, defeating the Saints of D'Youville University, 3-0, to open East Coast Conference play. Molloy improved to 4-7 on the season and 1-0 in ECC play with the win while D'Youville fell to 3-10 (0-1 ECC).

How it Happened
- Kills from senior Colleen Moulder and junior Rebecca Meier paired with an ace from freshman Hope Carolan put the Lions in front, 5-2, to start the first set.
- Molloy would maintain its advantage until a three-point stretch gave D'Youville a 20-19 advantage.Â
- With the set tied at 21, blocks from Moulder, senior Kiarra Rothe, and junior Roberta Monticelli, ace from gradaute student Mariana Donado Yepes, and a kill from Roth gave the home team the final four points needed for the set victory.
- D'Youville started the second set off leading 12-9, but the Lions chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the contest at 16 on back-to-back kills from Monticelli.Â
- The Saints led, 19-18, before five-straight points for Molloy gave the team a 23-19 advantage. Roth had two kills in th stretch paired with a block and kill from sophomore Sara Heibert and an ace from Carolan. Kills from Meier and Donado Yepes finished off the set for the home team.
- Molloy scored five of the first seven points of the third set and eventually would pull in front by as much as 13-6.Â
- The Saints would come within four, but that was as close as the set would come before the Lions walked away with the sweep.
Top Performances
- Roth had a double-double, leading Molloy with both 11 kills and 11 digs to go with two aces, two blocks, and two assists.
- Monticelli joined her in double digits with 10 kills and added three digs and three blocks.Â
- Meier had seven kills while putting up 10 digs.
- Donado Yepes had 31 assists, five kills, two aces, and two digs.Â
- Heibert led Molloy with four blocks and chipped in eight kills. Moulder also put up four blocks.Â
- Carolan's three aces paced the Molloy serving on the afternoon.
