Nicholas Sadorf Buries Winning Goal in 90th Minute to Lift STAC Past Georgian Court, 3-2

Sparkill, N.Y. - Nicholas Sadorf's spectacular game-winning goal in the 90th minute of play, propelled the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Georgian Court University on Tuesday at Spartan Field. 

STAC improves to 6-1-2 overall, while Georgian Court falls to 2-5-2 on the year.

In addition to Sadorf's last-minute tally, teammates Andres Gonzalez-Rios and Kevon Evan also struck for goals, while Cherif Tammar and Cole Sullivan scored for the opposition.

In net, STAC keeper Calle Olle Petter Gunnarsson got the start between the pipes and turned aside seven of nine shots faced. On the other end of the field, Fabio Krissler made one stop on three shots, before Ayendi Batista came on in relief in the second half and made eight saves on nine shots.

How it Happened

  • 2nd Minute - A direct kick was awarded to Spartans in the opening moments of the match and Andres Gonzalez-Rios would blast a low shot through the Georgian Court defensive wall, beating keeper Fabio Krissler at the left post to make it 1-0 STAC.
  • 25th Minute - Mathias Madersbacher's free kick just outside the box would riccochet off of the head of teammate Cherif Tammar, dipping low and past Spartans keeper Calle Olle Petter Gunnarsson to tie the game at 1-1.
  • 54th Minute - Lewis Paterson's cross-field pass near the far sideline would find the foot of Kevon Evans for a deflection goal at the left post to put STAC back ahead at 2-1.
  • 60th Minute - A through ball from midfield found the foot of Cole Sullivan, who dribbled in with defenders surrounding him and sent a high shot over the head of Calle Gunnarsson and to the back of the net to knot the match at 2-2.
  • 90th Minute - A turnover at midfield on a goal kick by Georgian Court keeper Ayendi Batista was settled by a pair of Spartans heads and sent up field to Nicholas Sadorf. Sadorf would dribble to the top of the box and fire a shot through a sliding defender and past a diving Batista at the left post to put the maroon and gold on top for good at 3-2.

  • STAC outshot Georgian Court 22-15, while the hosts also earned a 10-2 corner kicks advantage over the Lions.
  • Kevon Evans tallied his team and ECC-leading 8th goal and 20th point of the season.
  • Alejandro Zuniga registered a game-high eight shots in the contest.
