Men's Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw with East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - An Angel Catalan Hernandez free kick tally with just over eight minutes to play in the second half, tied the score at 1-1, and would be the end result as the St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Soccer team settled for a draw with East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday evening at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

STAC moves to 9-2-4 on the season, while ESU goes to 6-3-6 on the year.

As mentioned earlier, Hernandez picked up his first goal of the season, with East Stroudsburg's Nathan Bradway tallying his third goal of the campaign.

In net, Calle Olle Petter Gunnarsson (T, 9-0-4) stopped seven of eight shots for the Spartans, as his shutout streak ended at 367 minutes and 22 seconds. On the other end of the field, Helgi Hermannsson (T, 2-2-3) turned away one of two shots faced for the Warriors on the evening.

  • 66th Minute: A corner kick by the Warriors found the feet near a crowd of players inside the box. A weak clear by the Spartans was corralled by Nathan Bradway and fired to the top right corner of the net, beating Calle Gunnarsson to make it 1-0 East Stroudsburg.
  • 82nd Minute: On a free kick, Angel Catalan Hernandez rocketed a shot toward goal, beating keeper Helgi Hermannsson just under the crossbar at the left side of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
