Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team raced out to 13-2 halftime lead and never looked backed, as the Purple Knights snapped a three-game losing skid with a convincing 21-10 non-conference home win over the visiting Caldwell University Cougars on Tuesday afternoon. UB is now 2-3 on the young season, and Caldwell falls to 1-4 overall. The 21 goals tie the Purple Knights' single game record set last season versus UDC.
Nine different Bridgeport players scored goals on Tuesday led by sophomore Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) and freshman Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) who each had five goals.
Sophomore Julia Ruscio (St, Catherines, Ontario, Canada) added three goals, and seniors Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) plus Amanda Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, N.Y.) with two goals apiece rounded out the UB multi-goal scorers against the Cougars.
Forry added six assists to finish with a total of eight points on the afternoon.
Arden Kassaleh led Caldwell with five goals.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's lacrosse team will continue a busy week of action as they travel to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Thursday afternoon.
