West Haven, Conn. - Despite a goal from freshman
Harvey Chahal to tie the contest in the 82nd minute, the men's soccer team fell to the Chargers of the University of New Haven, 2-1, this evening from Kathy Zolad Stadium. Molloy falls to 1-2 on the season with the loss while UNH improves to 2-0.
How it Happened
- The Lions were on the attack early, prompting two saves from Kyle Mather in the first 26 minutes of play on shots from seniors Andy Blanco and Jonas Jacobsen.
- Graduate student Dennis Mejia made a save in the 37th minute to keep the game scoreless and the teams entered the halftime break tied, 0-0.
- Adam Lindstrom found the back of the net for the Chargers in the 53rd minute to give the home team a lead.
- Senior Ryan Dobson would feed Chahal on the goal to tie the game in the 82nd minute, but New Haven would respond with the go ahead goal just 40 seconds later off the foot of Augustus McCiff.
- Dobson, Chahal, and freshman Matthew Broadhead each recorded two shots for the cardinal and white.
- Mejia made two stops in net.
