WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team fell to nationally ranked Mercy College, Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown Day School Field. The Firebirds fell to 0-5 in conference play while the Mavericks improved to 3-1.
Natalia Perkins and Michelle Mitchell both picked up a team high three ground balls. Desiree Gaeckler, Ana Sanchez and Kensley Benjamin each forced two Mercy turnovers. Perkins also made a game high 10 saves.
UDC went 8-16 on clears, while Mercy went a perfect 17-17. The visiting Mavericks outshot the Firebirds 37-2 and won more draw controls 19-3.
Up next, UDC (1-10, 0-5 ECC) will conclude their season on April 29th, hosting St Thomas Aquinas College at the Georgetown Day School Field at 2:00 pm.
