Men's Soccer Draws with UDC

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team came away with a 0-0 draw with the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks had five total shots in the game with all five on target, including three shots that were headed for the back of the net if it wasn't for miraculous saves made by UDC's goalkeeper Sergio Becerra.

The Firebirds came out on the attack in the second half and used a man up situation to fire off 16 shots while putting pressure on the Redhawks' defense. Roberts had been given a red card in the 68th minute. The Redhawks defense never folded and were able to preserve the tie.

"I thought we had a tough second half after playing well in the first," said head coach Scott Reber. "But if you told me we'd be playing a man down and would come away with a point, I'd take that any day."

Caleb DaSilva made five saves for Roberts.

Roberts (1-3-2, 1-0-1 ECC) will continue its homestand with games next week against Seton Hill (Wed. 5 p.m.) and Saturday for homecoming at 3:30 p.m. against Slippery Rock.
