BUFFALO - D'Youville University women's soccer hosted Assumption University Sunday afternoon, coming away with a 1-1 tie.
The Saints (0-1-1) fell down early in the first half, as the Greyhounds got on the board in the fourth minute with a goal from Ashley Wenzel, assisted by Delaney Farinha. D'Youville had an opportunity in the 13th minute when freshman
Makaylah Higgins missed left. Sophomore
Laoise O'Haodha put a shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but it was saved by Assumption goalkeeper Kaylah Seavey.
D'Youville's next scoring opportunity came in the 48th minute, when sophomore
Eleonora Cecchini put one on goal, but Seavey steered it away once again. The Saints drew even in the 76th minute, as sophomore Jesslyn-Brooke Vallesteros found O'Haodha for the goal. D'Youville saw one more scoring opportunity the rest of the way, but ultimately the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kailie Regan went the distance in net, making two saves on three attempts.
D'Youville is back in action this Friday, September 8th, as they host Lake Erie College at 5 p.m.
