UDC Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season Play at Home in Winning Fashion

GERMANTOWN, MD- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team earned three conference points after defeating D'Youville University 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

Axel Gamez and Isaiah Daniel scored the Firebirds two goals and Sergio Becerra made six saves to add another conference shutout to his record.

The first goal of the game came in the 20th minute after six shot attempts by UDC. Gamez was able to strike first with the assists coming from Zachary Parker and Vasco Irazola. It would be another 40 minutes but, Daniel was able to add an insurance goal for the Firebirds in the 75th minute of the second half. 

The Firebirds took 22 shots compared to the Saints nine and, had the advantage in corner kicks 12-2.  

During half-time the Firebirds celebrated senior's Keino Thompson and Joseluiz Avalos in their last regular season home game off their collegiate careers. 

Next up, UDC (5-6-3, 3-1-2 ECC) will kick off their last week of regular season conference play on Wednesday in N.Y. against the College of Staten Island. The game is slated to begin at 3:00pm.
