Lincoln University, PA – On the back of a season-high 36 shots and three goals from graduate student
Caitlin Kennedy, the Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Lions of Lincoln University, 6-0, Friday afternoon at Lincoln University Stadium. Molloy improves to 3-2-3 overall and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play, while Lincoln moves to 0-5-2 and 0-2 in league play.
How it Happened
- The Lions converted its first chance of the afternoon when sophomore Mikaela Barriga found the back of the net to give Molloy a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
- Freshman Olivia Ingenito had consecutive opportunities in the eighth and 12th minute, having one shot blocked and the other saved by Lincoln goalkeeper Ariel Reyes.
- In the 23rd minute, graduate student Caitlin Kennedy increased the Molloy lead to two, 2-0.
- Kennedy would continue the scoring for the road team in the 31st minute, scoring her second of the afternoon giving the Lions a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, graduate student Jackie Murphy took her first shot of the season, but the chance was stopped by Reyes in goal in the 53rd minute.
- Four minutes later, Kennedy netted her hat trick goal increasing the lead to 4-0.
- Kennedy continued to find chances in the second stanza with two additional shots in the 61st and 64thminute, but both shots were denied.
- In the 71st minute, senior Sarah Tappeto added a goal off a feed from freshman Victoria Bustamante to move Molloy ahead, 5-0.
- Ingenito was able to crack the scoreboard in the 79th minute, as the cardinal and white would finish the game victorious, 6-0.
