Women's Volleyball Swept By Molloy, 3-0

Sparkill, N.Y. - Hosting the second of five straight home matches, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Molloy University on Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall Gym. 

STAC drops to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in ECC play, while Molloy improves to 5-9 and 2-2.

How it Happened

  • Molloy opened the contest on an 8-2 run on kills from Sara Hiebert and one each from Aria Miller, Chye Davis, and Kiarra Roth.
  • Sara Hiebert would add three more kills in the first set en route to the 25-15 victory.
  • STAC opened the second set with three-straight points on two Lea Venghaus service aces and a Jaizahir Marrero-George kill, and would maintain its advantage halfway through the set.
  • Trailing 11-9, the visitors put together a six-point run on blocks from Chye Davis and Kiarra Roth as well as kills from the duo and Roberta Monticelli and a service ace from Aria Miller.
  • STAC would be able to come within one via a Lorielys Ruiz kill, but the visiting Lions maintained its advantage through to its 25th point.
  • A 5-0 run by Molloy to open the third set allowed the Lions to cruise to victory, as St. Thomas Aquinas could not close the deficit and trailed by as many as nine points late in the match.
