GERMANTOWN, MD- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team fell to nationally ranked Mercyhurst, 0-3 Wednesday evening at the Maryland SoccerPlex Stadium. The Lakers improved to 5-0 on the season, while the Firebirds fell to 2-3-2.
Sergio Becerra made a game high three saves on the day and Giovanni Campero had a team high two shots on goal. The Lakers out shot the Firebirds 14-4 and had the advantage in cornerkicks 3-0.
The first half saw both teams scoreless, with the Lakers posting four shots while holding the Firebirds to none. The visiters were able to get on the board striking 11 minutes into the second half. They went on to score two more unanswered goals to walk away with the decisive victory.
Next up UDC (2-3-2, 0-0-1 ECC) will host conference foe Molloy University on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
