Bald Eagles 89th Minute Goal Ends in Heartbreak for Firebirds

GERMANTOWN, MD- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team fell to Lock Haven 0-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Maryland SoccerPlex Stadium.

Sergio Becerra made a game-high seven saves, Axel Gamez had two shots on goal and Ignacio Pericet had one. 

It was an intense match up as the game went 89 minutes without seeing a goal. Lock Haven scored the heartbreaker in the 89th minute after back-to-back corner kicks resulted in the game-winner.

The Bald Eagles outshot the Firebirds 12-6 and had the advantage in corner kicks 10-2. 

Up next, UDC (4-6-3, 2-1-2 ECC) will host D'Youville University in a conference match up on Saturday. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
