BUFFALO - D'Youville University's women's soccer team played host to Lake Erie College at Dobson Field on Friday night, coming up short by a final score of 2-0.

The Saints (0-2-1) found themselves in a 1-0 deficit going into halftime after the Storm converted a free kick for a goal in the 41st minute. The Saints saw a scoring opportunity in the 27th minute when sophomore Hannah Woodhouse (Queensbury, N.Y.) put a shot on goal, but it was smothered by the Storm's goalkeeper.

In the second half, sophomore Eleonora Cecchini (San Marino, Fiorentino, Italy), sophomore Laoise O'Haodha (Limerick, Ireland), and junior Abigail Nowak (Katy, Texas) each put a shot on goal, but they were all steered away. The Saints had four corner kicks in the second half, but were unable to put anything together off of those opportunities. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Liljenquist made her collegiate debut in net for the Saints, playing the full 90 minutes and making two saves on four shot attempts. 

DYU is back in action this Sunday, Sept. 10th, at 12:00 p.m., when they travel to Waterbury, Connecticut for a matchup with Post University.
