STAC Women's Volleyball Falls to Daemen, 3-0

Sparkill, N.Y. - Playing its second match in as many days, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team ran into a red-hot Daemen University, falling 3-0 on Sunday morning at Aquinas Hall Gym.

STAC falls to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in the ECC, while Daemen improves to 14-4 and 5-0 with its seventh straight victory.

Inside the Box Score

  • Junior right side Jaizahir Marrero-George finished with 14 kills and three errors on 42 attacks for a .262 hitting percentage. The Carolina, Puerto Rico native added four digs and four block assists to her stat line.
  • Marrero-George, the ECC leader in kills per set, was the only player to tally double digit kills (14). 
  • Freshman outside hitter Alana Rider totaled 4 kills in the match
  • Freshman outside hitter/right side Natassia Romanoff finished with three kills and just two errors on 16 attacks, also adding a block assist on the day.
  • Junior setter Lea Venghaus tallied 19 assists (6.33 assists/set), one ace and nine digs. Junior libero Aurivette Santos Bonilla also posted 12 digs (4.0 digs/set). 
  • St. Thomas Aquinas' Jaizahir Marrero-George, the ECC leader in kills per set, led all players with 14 kills on the day, and was the only player to tally double digit kills.
