Firebirds Suffer Tough Loss against Bridgeport on the Road

Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team suffered a tough 105-78 loss against Conference foe Bridgeport University on Wednesday night at the Hubbell Gymnasium. Sophomore Guard Juanye Colon led the Firebirds with a game high 21 points.
Colon went 5-11 from the three point line and 8-15 from the field to total 21 points. Senior guard Zachary Olukanni packed the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds four assists and five steals. Cheyenne Nettleton came off the bench to contribute 14 points and five rebounds of his own.
The Purple Knights had six players contribute in the double figures and was led by reserve Hashem Abbas who went 10-13 from the field and 1-2 at the three point line.
With this loss the Firebirds fell to 0-2 in conference play and 4-7 overall and the Purple Knights improved to 1-0 in conference play and 5-2 overall.
Next up UDC will host New York Tech on Saturday December 14th at 3:00pm at the UDC Gym.
