DOLPHINS BATTLE SAINT MICHAEL'S TO SCORELESS DRAW IN SEASON OPENER

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team battled the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College to a draw earlier today as they two teams played 90 scoreless minutes in each team's season opener.  The Dolphins and Purple Knights each start their season 0-0-1 as the first meeting in the history of the programs ended without a winner.

After Saint Michael's registered the game's first two shots, Isabella Radovini tallied three quality attempts for the Dolphins.  Nadia Evola added one more to make it four straight CSI chances, but the Dolphins were unable to score.  The Purple Knights then seized control of the game late in the first half and attempted five of the final six shots ahead of halftime.  This sent the game to halftime scoreless with the Purple Knights possessing the momentum.

Coming out of the halftime break, Saint Michael's continued to get the better of the shot tally, but the Dolphins were able to generate three late scoring chances as part of a surge in the final minutes of the match.  First, a shot by Evola was blocked before two shots by Radovini were saved by Purple Knights goalkeeper Jenna Braun.  The second attempt by Radovini would go down as the final shot attempt of the match and the game ended in a scoreless draw.

The two saves by Braun were the only two saves of the game for the Purple Knights goalkeeping unit.  Brianna Dore posted a clean sheet in her season debut for the Dolphins and Radovini and Evola combined to attempt eight of the nine CSI shots.  One the other side, Bella DelVecchio played the full 90 minutes and led Saint Michael's in shots with four, two of which were on goal.

The Dolphins return to action at home on Sunday when they face Bloomfield College at 1 PM.
