Women's Soccer Concludes Season with 1-0 Senior Day Loss to Roberts Wesleyan

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team wrapped up its 2023 season, falling to Roberts Wesleyan University, 1-0 on Saturday morning at Spartan Field.

STAC closes its campaign with a 2-12-1 overall record and a 1-6-1 ECC mark, while Roberts Wesleyan clinches the top seed in the upcoming East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament by going 10-1-3 and 5-0-2.

Prior to the contest, the Spartans honored its graduating class; Rachel Brownell, Ella Connolly, Chloe Fletcher, Dharma Kotecha, Kiley Metcalf, Emily Ras and Ileana Santiago with on-field ceremonies, which included the athletes' families, friends, teammates, coaches and college administrators.

Once the match got underway, Roberts Wesleyan's Larissa Johnston tallied the only goal in the regular season finale. In net, Nicolette Knauf (W, 10-1-3) stopped both shots she faced over 90 minutes to earn her 10th victory in 14 decisions for the Redhawks. On the other end of the field, Catalena Robson (L, 0-8-1) turned away seven of eight shots faced for the maroon and gold.

  • 6th Minute: A throw-in by Maia LaVigne would find the foot of Larissa Johnston who fired a high shot toward the net from just outside the box, beating Spartans keeper Catalena Robson just under the crossbar at the left post to give Roberts Wesleyan the 1-0 lead.
