STAC Men's Soccer Rallies to Force 1-1 Draw at Saint Anselm

Manchester, N.H. - Kevon Evans tallied the game-tying goal in the 80th minute, as the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team rallied to force a 1-1 tie with Saint Anselm College on Sunday at Melucci Field.

STAC moves to 0-0-2 on the young season, while Saint Anselm goes to 0-1-1.

In the first half, the Hawks largely dominated the time of possession and recorded most of the quality scoring chances. However, it was the stellar play in net by keeper Calle Olle Petter Gunnarsson that kept the hosts off of the scoreboard. Saint Anselm outshot St. Thomas Aquinas 10-6 through the first 45 minutes of action.

When the teams returned for the second half it would take until the 60th minute for the first goal of the match. That strike would come courtesy of Saint Anselm's Lucas Bravo Olle. A through ball up the right sideline to teammate Zach Verow would be taken to the net and quickly sent to the left post, where Olle deposited a shot past Gunnarson to take a 1-0 lead.

The Spartans would square things up at 1-1 when a ball sent up the middle of the field would find several Hawks legs, before Kevon Evans would gain possession, dance around several Saint Anselm defenders and blasted a shot to the top right corner of the net, past keeper David Hood.

In the final 10 minutes of the match, scoring chances became few and far between, as STAC recorded two shots on frame, while Saint Anselm put a shot over the top of the net.
