Spartans Overpowered by Nationally Ranked Mavericks, 19-0

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 19-0 defeat at the hands of nationally ranked (No.15/19) Mercy College, in conference action on Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field. 

STAC (1-11, 0-4 ECC) was held to eight shots, six ground balls, and seven draw controls on the day. Senior goalkeeper Colleen Stevens (L, 1-11) made seven saves.

Leah Hanson had four goals for the Mavericks (6-5, 2-1 ECC), which led 12-0 at the end of the first quarter. Teammates Leena Moussa and Sydney Corley tallied three goals apiece.

Colleen Stevens scooped up a team-high two ground balls for the Spartans, while freshman Rachael Paraskos recorded three draw controls. Junior Aaliyah James caused two turnovers in the match.

STAC closes out its 2023 home schedule on Saturday, April 15 (11:00 a.m.) against Daemen University at Spartan Field. Senior Day festivities will precede the contest between the Spartans and Wildcats.
