STAC Women's Lacrosse Drops 19-3 Decision to Roberts Wesleyan

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team received goals from McKenzie SchlechtwegKatelyn Cerrato and Arianna Tribble, but the Spartans wound up suffering a 19-3 setback to Roberts Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon at Spartan Field.

Roberts Wesleyan held the upper hand in shots (37-14) and ground balls (27-18) and went 13-for-15 on clears. STAC won 15-of-24 draw controls and was 7-for-16 on clear attempts. On free-position shots, the Redhawks were 3-for-6, while the Spartans were 1-for-4.

STAC falls to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in ECC play with the loss, while Roberts Wesleyan improves to 6-5 and 1-1 with the win.

Junior McKenzie Schlechtweg scored the first goal for the Spartans on a free-position shot with 7:41 to play in the second quarter. Sophomore Katelyn Cerrato took a third quarter pass from teammate Hailey Galison and deposited it to the back of the cage, while freshman Arianna Tribble tallied a goal late in the final stanza.

For Roberts Wesleyan, Annie Mulhall led the way with eight goals, while Alexis Grant had six points on four goals and two assists. Emma Blumenstock (three goals), Tori Lammes (one goal, five assists), Kadie Tierney (one goal, three assists), Sophia Podszebka (one goal) and Erin Quinn (one goal) also contributed to the Redhawks' offense.

Senior goalie Colleen Stevens (L, 1-9) made eight stops on the afternoon, while Roberts Wesleyan's Shawna Lesmerises (W, 6-5) turned away six shots.
