Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Redhawks Shutout D'Youville

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts men's soccer picked up their first win of the season as well as their first conference win of the season with an 8-0 victory over D'Youville on Wednesday night.

It was the type of game the Redhawks needed.

"It was good to get that first win and put out a quality 90 minutes tonight," said head coach Scott Reber.

Reber has seen glimpses so far this season of the level of talent on his squad, but the team has been working to find how it gels on the field, and tonight's win over D'Youville helped push things in the right direction.

The Redhawks wasted no time getting on the board and scored five first half goals. Robert Hinds kicked off the scoring with an unassisted goal 46 seconds into the match. It was Hinds' first career goal with the Redhawks and the senior helped open the scoring frenzy.

Tamas Nagy found the back of the net three times in the first half for his first hat trick of the season.

Freshman Myles Palmer and senior Joshua Jones both scored their first collegiate goals in the game. Palmer found the back of the net twice with goals in the 40th minute and 74th minute. Jones added a penalty kick goal in the 55th minute after he was taken down in the box.

Junior transfer Toby Balaam was the other goal scorer for Roberts with a goal in the 80th minute. He also added an assist.

Eight goals are the most amount of goals scored in a game since the 2015 season when the Redhawks defeated the College of Saint Rose 8-1. It was also the largest margin of victory the team has had in 12 years.

Roberts (1-3-1, 1-0 ECC) will continue with conference play on Saturday when they host the University of the District of Columbia at 1 p.m.
