Athletic Operations Internship Program
Working Title: Intern – Women’s
Basketball Operations
Reports To: Head Women’s Basketball Coach,
Assistant(s) Women’s Basketball Coaches, Internship
Supervisor
Primary Function: C.W. Post Campus – Long
Island University, an NCAA Division II program and a member of the
East Coast Conference (ECC)
Including, but not limited to:
• Secure basketball facilities associated with all practices
and games
• Supervise court set-up and maintenance of basketball home
games
• Assist with supervision and delegation of responsibility to
game day staff
• Assistance with team orientated office work
• Serve as host for all visiting teams and officials
• Filming of practices and games
• Accompany team on road trips
• Breakdown and coordination of film exchange (if needed)
• Serve as liaison for advance team operations (i.e. travel
itinerary, hotel accommodations, meal money exchange, etc.)
• Assist with the planning of team functions (i.e. dinners,
alumni outings, youth group visits, community service
opportunities, and team appearances)
• Scouting of team opponents
• Provide advisory assistance pertaining to women’s
basketball preparation
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Women’s
Basketball Coach, Assistant(s) Women’s Basketball Coache
Background Requirements:
1. Bachelor/Graduate degree or working towards a degree in sport
management, marketing and/or in appropriate field, organizational,
communication and public relations skills.
2. Must possess a strong work ethic and eagerness to work in the
sports industry.
3. The intern is frequently required to work nights, weekends, and
extended hours
