Concordia Softball Walks for Children’s Cancer Fund
Oct 5, 2008

On Saturday, October 4th the Concordia College Women's Softball Team headed to FDR Park in Yorktown to raise money for The Children's Cancer Fund.  All the players and coaches walked for Team Sammi K.

Sammi K. is a five year old girl who is battling Leukemia.  Sammi became a friend of the program through her aunt who works with Concordia Assistant Coach Bob D'Avanzo's wife, Patty D'Avanzo.  For the last year, Sammi has been a fan of the Lady Clippers, so this was a great way for the Ladies to give back to Sammi and all those kids who are battling Cancer.

The walk began at 10:00 AM and was over 2 miles long.  Team Sammi, which included family, friends, and the Lady Clippers, raised over $14,000 for The Children's Cancer Fund.
