The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team will be among the twenty teams and ten individuals that advance to the NCAA Division II Championship Finals. STAC finished fifth in the East/Atlantic Region of the NCAA Super Regionals played at the Glade Spring Cobb Course in West Virginia. The Spartans were among eighty teams and emerged as one of the top twenty in the country. STAC was led by a stellar performance by sophomore Chris Fitzpatrick who shot a three day score of 228. Fitzpatrick finished tied for fifth place. Senior Patrick Schwarze completed the tournament with a total score of 234, followed by Brian Viola with 242. Sean Campbell (243) and John Casey (244) rounded out the scorers for the Spartans.
The top five teams and the top two individuals not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 19-22 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Washington. The finals will be hosted by Western Washington University. This is the first time in program history the Spartans have made it to the NCAA Championship Finals.
