
Bronxville, NY - The #1 seeded Concordia Clippers defeated the #2 seeded Queens College Kinghts, 5-2, on October 23 to claim the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Post Season title. The Clippers remain untouched with a 10-0 record while the Knights conclude their fall season with an 8-3 overall record.
The Clippers held a 2-1 edge over the Knights after doubles play. Somadi Drucker and Celise Sesanker notched an 8-5 victory over Alyssa Morra and Maria Mendes in #1 doubles while Cristina Oliveira and Maria Ortiz teamed up to defeat Taylor Barber and Laura Mocodanu 8-6 in #2 doubles. Jessica Franklin and Maria Perevezentseva tallied the lone Knights doubles victory, upending Adeline Brennan and Tita Kiss 8-6 at the #3 spot.
East Coast Conference Player of the Year Oliveira tallied a win in the #1 doubles defeating Mendes, 6-1, 6-0. Concordia would clinch the win with victories at #3 singles and #5 singles with Sesanker defeating Barber 6-3, 6-2 and Brennan taking a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Perevezentseva. Mora would win the only singles match for Queens, defeating Kill 6-3, 6-3.
